Earl Chesson

Earl Chesson is Founder and Principal of Chesson Partners.  He attended the University of North Carolina on a football scholarship and earned his degree in business.  After being injured with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1974, he returned to Chapel Hill and started his company with Dan Hill, III.   Earl specializes in managing life insurance portfolios for ultra-high net worth clients and family offices, and has worked with some of the wealthiest families in America to develop strategies for advanced wealth transfer, philanthropic and liquidity planning.

A life member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), Earl was one of the youngest people to qualify for the MDRT’s Top of the Table.  He is an active member of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU) and The International Forum.  Earl has served on the President’s Council of three major life insurance companies and has earned the designations of Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy from The American College.  He has served on the board of PartnersFinancial / NFP and AALU Advisory Board.  Earl is co-author of the book, Family Wealth Counseling-Getting to the Heart of the Matter.  Active in his community, Earl has held board and leadership positions at his church, Rotary Club, YMCA and school.  He is on the Board of Visitors for UNC Lineberger and has been on the BB & T Advisory Board since 1993.

Earl enjoys snowboarding, windsurfing, golf, hiking, reading, working in his garden and being with his family.  He and his wife Margaret have four children and six grandchildren.  Through their family foundation, Earl and his wife Margaret have been active philanthropists in the community.
